Roles Within the PERT
A number of different PERT roles will be involved in a typical PERT case.
Primary Users
PERT primary users are either national research and education networks (NRENs) or large-scale pan-European academic projects with high-level IT requirements. Although anyone involved in academia or research can request the PERT's assistance, primary users will receive priority attention from the PERT.
If you believe your project qualifies to be a PERT primary user and is not one already, please fill out the PERT contact form, using the comments field to explain your project's eligibility for PERT primary customer status.
Case Managers
The PERT is continually staffed by at least one Case Manager during the core working hours, Monday to Friday (not public holidays). The duty Case Manager will respond to new requests for help and progress the investigation of outstanding issues, calling upon the help of the appropriate Subject Matter Experts where required.
Subject Matter Experts
Although the PERT Case Managers are funded by the GÉANT2 project, the success of the PERT is dependent on the voluntary contributions of a wide range of industry and academic networking and systems experts. These Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) provide advice and help to users who contact the PERT on a "when convenient" basis.
Since each SME can only offer a small amount of time, a large number of SMEs need to be involved in the PERT to increase the chances that at an appropriate SME is available to offer help at any one time. If you are interested in joining the PERT as an SME, please fill out the PERT contact form, using the comments field to explain how you could contribute as an SME.
