perfSONAR UI online training is up and running
Monday, 14 April 2008: GÉANT2’s knowledge transfer activity group is pleased to announce the release of the online, self-paced training for the perfSONAR User Interface (perfSONAR UI). perfSONAR is an International collaboration that facilitiates rapid and efficient multi-domain monitoring across various networks. perfSONAR UI allows access to network performance metrics from across multiple domains to track and eliminate network problems and performance bottlenecks to enable GEANT2 to deliver fast, reliable and uninterrupted network communication.
The training walks users through the perfSONAR UI, which has been designed for use by Network Operations Centres (NOCs) and Performance Enhancement and Response Teams (PERTs). It takes a maximum of one hour to complete and can be paused and restarted as required.
The main aims of the online training are to:
- Demonstrate how to use the perfSONAR UI and allow users to monitor network performance.
- Detail the specific performance metrics that can be accessed through the perfSONAR UI.

The training is encouraged in order to understand this useful tool and be aware of the perfSONAR UI capabilities. The perfSONAR team welcomes feedback about the ongoing development of the perfSONAR UI from users who have completed the training. Such feedback will help to ensure that the perfSONAR UI continues to be tailored to NOC and PERT use.
