GÉANT2 Performance Enhancement and Response Team (PERT) Pilot Service Launches
The European research networking community is pleased to announce the launch of the PERT pilot service, which began on Monday 1 November. The GN2 Performance Enhancement and Response Team (PERT) pilot service will run until the end of February 2005.
The PERT is a virtual team which can assist in troubleshooting network performance issues. Anyone who needs the PERT's help should log a problem with their NREN using the normal channels for reporting computer and network issues. The issue can then be escalated to the PERT via the NREN as appropriate.
This innovative service is one of the first achievements of GÉANT2, and represents an important step on the path towards a seamless European research networking service for users.
The PERT will respond to all NREN queries by next business day, and all help provided is on a best-efforts basis. The more relevant information that is provided to the PERT, the greater the chance of a quick and successful resolution to the problem.
NREN NOCs can raise issues with the PERT by emailing pert-report@geant2.net.
