GÉANT2 User Support: What To Expect
The user support service is specifically for users of GÉANT2 who require specific services, network configuration or consultation to optimise their international connectivity.
GÉANT2 user support recognises the diverse nature of projects and is flexible and creative in the networking solutions provided. The following procedure is a guide to what to expect from user support.
If you feel that the networking requirements of your project need the support of GÉANT2 please contact our User Support Service via the Contact User Support link in the left-hand menu.
Defining Your Project
Firstly, establish the presence of a GÉANT2–connected NREN in the countries of your collaborating partners. Bear in mind that GÉANT2 is also connected to many other research networks and academic backbones worldwide.
It is also important to verify the eligibility of the network application you propose. Access to GÉANT2 is only possible through a connecting NREN, so any institution hoping to make use of the pan-European backbone must first meet the local NRENs’ acceptable use policies. In broad terms this usually restricts network usage to non-commercial activities, primarily research and education.
