The background to the introudction of these services is discused, both in terms of user demand, the available technoloiges, their capabilities and the economic circumstances which allowed their introduction. The different types of GÉANT2 service are described in detail, including the different technical variation offered and the geographic reach of the circuits. Importantly, the process created to deliver these services is outlines and the future plans for development of customer service are discussed.
