GÉANT is an advanced pan-European backbone network that interconnects 30 National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) connecting researchers in 34 countries across Europe. GÉANT also provides network and other supporting services aimed at optimising user collaboration across Europe.

The GÉANT network comprises three core network services:

• GÉANT IP - providing high bandwidth international internet connectivity for millions of academic users.
• GÉANT Plus and GÉANT Lambda point-to-point services, providing dedicated bandwidth and guaranteed quality of service.

These network services are complemented by a range of supporting services including network monitoring, fault reporting, security, roaming access and training.
